How does the Charitable + MailPoet integration work?

The integration works through the Charitable Newsletter Connect extension. When a donor completes a gift on one of your Charitable forms and opts in to your newsletter, their name and email address are added to the MailPoet list you have chosen for that campaign. Because MailPoet runs on WordPress alongside Charitable, no API key or external connection is needed. The two plugins communicate directly on your site, so the sync happens the moment the donation is processed.

Can I choose which email lists donors join?

Yes, you have complete control over list assignment. Set global rules that apply to all donations, or create conditional rules based on campaign, donation amount, or donor type.

How do I set up the integration between Charitable and MailerLite?

First, install and activate the Newsletter Connect extension from your WordPress dashboard. Then find your MailerLite API key in your MailerLite account settings and enter it in Charitable’s Settings » Marketing » MailerLite tab.

Are donors added to MailPoet automatically, or do I need to trigger it manually?

Donors are added automatically as soon as their donation is completed and they have opted in. There is no manual step, no scheduled batch, and no export required on your end. If you use automatic opt-in mode, donors are added to MailPoet as soon as the donation goes through – without them needing to tick a checkbox at all. If you use a checkbox mode, the subscriber is created in MailPoet the moment they complete the form with the box checked.

What happens if I want to disable the newsletter opt-in for one campaign?

You can disable the opt-in on any individual campaign without affecting the rest of your setup. Open the campaign editor, click the Newsletter tab, and tick the Disable Newsletter Signup option. That campaign’s donation form will no longer show an opt-in checkbox, and no subscribers will be sent to MailPoet from that campaign. All your other campaigns continue to work normally.
