At Paws 4 Kids 4 Paws, something extraordinary happens when kids and rescue dogs come together. Here, brave and curious young people, especially those who don’t always fit the traditional school mold, learn to communicate with dogs, build confidence, and find success. Their unique programs empower youth to become leaders in their own lives and communities by cultivating compassion, skills, and self-advocacy through animal-assisted experiences.
Their programs teach youth to assess dog behavior and temperament, train shelter animals for various roles, and develop social and career-building skills. Designed especially for “square peg” kids who face academic or social challenges, Paws 4 Kids 4 Paws’s unique learning model uses hands-on activities, mentorship, digital engagement, and community partnerships to empower young people to become compassionate leaders and advocates for themselves, their peers, and animals.
By helping rescue animals become more adoptable, the organization fosters a symbiotic relationship where both youth and dogs thrive. Their growing collaborations include partnerships with local libraries, park districts, and animal shelters to expand program access and impact.
Programs That Grow with the Kids
Paws 4 Kids 4 Paws programs are designed to engage youth, especially neurodivergent learners and those who struggle socially or academically, to develop strengths beyond the classroom.
